How I workI offer a safe place that allows you to feel comfortable, unconditional positive regard for your way of being. In a non-judgmental, open, honest and confidential manner that empowers you to find your own solutions to your issues.

Confidentiality

I feel confidentiality is an important aspect of the work we do together. Anything that is talked about within our session will remain confidential and any notes taken will be held locked away with no identifying markings on them. This is purely only for identifying progression of the therapeutic relationship and will destroyed in a confidential manner in accordance to COSCA code of ethics and BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. If at any time I feel that you may be in any danger of hurting either yourself or anyone else, then I will discuss with you first before breaking confidentiality and seek advice from another person in support of you. Every month I attend supervision with a counsellor supervisor who is also bound by confidentiality. This is to support me in my development as a counsellor, to safeguard you as my client and to ensure that I abide by COSCA Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice and BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Length and frequency of sessions

Each session last for about an hour. Depending on the focus of the session there may be times when the session can be either shortened or lengthen to accommodate the emotions that may have come up. The frequency of the sessions is once a week and then as the therapeutic relationship grows it can then be changed to a fortnightly leading towards a gradual ending. The number of sessions depends entirely on you and what you would like to gain from the therapeutic relationship. If you feel you would like a break from the sessions, we can discuss this further. Likewise, if you would like to re-establish the therapeutic relationship after a break the door is always open, and you can contact me at any time, and we will take it from there.

Charges and Payments

I charge £40 per hour for each one to one session. Concessional rate can also be offered for those on benefits. A copy of your benefit will need to be provided and we can negotiate on what you feel you are able to afford. Payment can be made either by cash or BACS payment.

Cancellation

I understand there are times when you may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment due to unforeseeable circumstances. If you can give me 12 hours’ notice, then there will be no charge. However, if it is less than 12 hours and depending on the nature of the cancellation, I may have to charge half of the agreed rate or the room charge.

Complaints

If at any time you have any complaints about the service that I provide, in the first instance, please let me know so that we can try to resolve the issue. The following link takes you to COSCA’s requirements for Complaints Procedure and/or How to complain about a BACP member.

Any other Information

At any time if you are working with another counsellor or Health Professional it would be much appreciated if you could let me know so that we can avoid any conflict of interest.

The agreement is a living contract and at any time can be changed and adapted to fit the requirements of the therapeutic relationship and can be reviewed at any time.
